I am very grateful to have travelled and currently at this time, in South Korea. I think a part of me that is tied to my involvement and aspirations for SPOTAmericas is the state of Occupational Therapy across the world. During my time in Seoul, I encountered many things unique to South Korea and many overlapping things both here and in the United States. Interestingly, it seems that just like in the United States, Occupational Therapy is not as common as one would think. Additionally, I learned in a conversation with a professor here in Seoul, that Occupational Therapy is still an enigma and our rehabilitative teammate, physical therapy, is very prominent within the scope of rehabilitative services. I think my time in Seoul is brief to not fully grasp how Occupational Therapy could be ever-so meaningful to society here; Although, I think my time here shows the gaps in observation and the need to educate and promote the profession worldwide as students and as practitioners to be (if not already a practitioner as we are all life-long learners). Through conversation and observation I hope to hear what you guys have to say about this as well as what Occupational Therapy interpretation and implementation might be or what it should be in your respective environment!
